הצמיד עוצב בהשראת פעמון הזהב, פריט ארכאולוגי ייחודי מתקופת בית המקדש השני. הפעמון עשוי זהב טהור, בעל קימורים עדינים ודפנות דקות. וצליליו מהדהדים מן העבר. יתכן שפעמון זה היה חלק מהמעיל של הכהן הגדול, ככתוב: "ויעשו פעמוני זהב טהור [...] על שולי המעיל סביב" (שמות לט', כה'). המעיל עוטר ב72 פעמונים וסימן בצליליו את כניסתו של הכהן הגדול אל המקום הקדוש ביותר בבית המקדש- קודש הקודשים
